Description: My artwork imagines Singapore in 2060, where children from Singapore’s four major ethnic communities come together to create a miniature Merlion-shaped holographic projector using advanced robotics and future technology. The projector is more than a piece of technology. It can produce three-dimensional images of Singapore’s landscapes and city life, allowing children who no longer live on Earth to experience the home of their ancestors. Through the holographic projection, places, memories, and cultural landmarks can be brought back to life, even from far away. The four children represent Singapore’s multicultural society. Although they come from different cultural backgrounds, they work together toward the same goal, showing how diversity can become a source of creativity and cooperation. The Merlion, a symbol of Singapore, represents the shared identity that connects them. I imagine that in the future, technology will not only help us explore new worlds, but also help us preserve our memories and stay connected to where we came from. Ultimately, this artwork asks us to imagine: even if humanity travels beyond Earth, can technology help us carry our sense of home with us?
